When it comes to choosing holiday accommodation in Wanaka, Haka House Wanaka is a great choice – offering an atmosphere that’s welcoming, vibrant and cosy all at once, great facilities and a convenient location from which to explore the destination’s various attractions.

This Wanaka hostel with lake views – of beautiful Lake Wanaka, on the shores of which the town of Wanaka sits – offers private and shared room accommodation, and facilities that include a fully equipped kitchen, living and dining area, reading area, movie room, outdoor terrace with BBQ and lake view, pool table, foosball table, dart board, laundry and free Wi-Fi. When it comes to Wanaka holiday deals, this hostel is a leading choice.

Haka House Wanaka is a short stroll from the Lake Wanaka shorefront, and close to Pembroke Park – a picturesque lakefront setting popular with locals and visitors alike. It’s also a leisurely walk into the town centre and its restaurants, bars and cafes. This is Wanaka holiday accommodation that is well located.

Wanaka itself is a popular ski and summer resort at the southern end of Lake Wanaka in the Otago region of the South Island. It’s also a gateway to Mount Aspiring National Park, a wonderland of mountains, glaciers, river valleys and alpine lakes. Great for hikers, the park offers a number of short walks and also longer hikes. There’s also jetboating, mountaineering, heli-skiing, rock climbing and skydiving for the more adventurous of travellers.
For skiers, the South Island’s largest ski area – Treble Cone – is a 40 minute drive from Wanaka, while three other ski fields are also in the surrounding area: Coronet Peak, the Remarkables, and Cardona are all within one to two hours’ drive.

For the adrenaline seeker, along with the usual outdoor activities Wanaka also offers the chance to climb the highest waterfall cable climb in the world. This is located a 20 minute drive from Wanaka, and there are three options – Go Wild the beginner’s choice, Wild Thing the intermediate option, and Lord of the Rungs which ascends 400 vertical metres from the valley floor to the top of the waterfall.

Other activities that can be enjoyed in the area – and which are easily accessible from the choice address in Wanaka holiday accommodation that is Haka House Wanaka – include a relaxing cruise on Lake Wanaka with gorgeous scenery to be enjoyed, or for a little more excitement jetboating from the Wanaka lakefront into the Clutha River where the driver will push the limits with 180 and 360 degree turns.
Some fantastic bike riding is possible here too. Various trails are accessible from the town or nearby, while a favourite location for locals is the Pisa Conservation Area – a 30 minute drive from town offering different trails in beautiful countryside.

Movie buffs will be happy to know that various shooting locations from The Lord of the Rings and other films can be visited from Wanaka, including a number in and around Queenstown which is just over an hour’s drive away.
For something a bit quirky, Puzzling World is an entertaining place to visit, located just outside of Wanaka town and where there are bizarre buildings, rooms of illusion and the Great Maze to experience. Since 1973 it’s been fascinating visitors of all ages, and is well worth a visit for its somewhat different appeal.
