Haka House is a collection of design-driven hostels that combine conviviality, laid-back vibes, convenience and affordability, without skimping on style and comfort.

We’re proud to uphold Māori values and pay homage to the melting pot of cultures that shape our local communities. Our purpose lies in creating genuine connections between our Manuhiri (guests), our Manaki (hosts), our land and our culture through exceptional travel experiences.

Each Haka House goes beyond giving you a comfy bed to sleep in before setting off to explore, or after coming back from a full day of adventures. We’re here to be your welcome refuge and home away from home, where you’ll be surrounded by a friendly community of like-minded curious travellers – all in the heart of bucket list-worthy destinations.

At Haka House, we’re all about showing love to Aotearoa New Zealand – the land, the culture, and the people. We believe it’s our responsibility to take care of the world around us, and that means being socially, culturally, and environmentally responsible in everything we do. By doing our part to protect this beautiful place, we’re making sure that both current and future generations can enjoy an Aotearoa New Zealand that we can all be proud of. Let’s make a difference together!

Our commitment is tangible, from installing solar power panels at various properties, to implementing bed sheets and duvet inserts across our properties that have been created from over 160,000 recycled plastic bottles. Even our staff uniforms, such as the vest, incorporates 1,000 recycled bottles. Our bathroom amenities are made from post-consumer plastic waste, and are not just environmentally conscious but also showcase quality TOI bath products, proudly 100% New Zealand made with locally-sourced ingredients. These products are free from genetic engineering, petrochemicals, and parabens, reflecting our unwavering dedication to cruelty-free practices.
