Haka House Hostels strictly prohibits bookings from individuals under the age of 18 unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The following guidelines apply:

Accompanied Under 18’s:

  • Individuals under the age of 18 can only stay at the Hostel when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in the same room.
  • The room must be private.
  • No extra beds, cot or baby crib are provided at the Hostel.

Shared Room Exceptions for Unaccompanied Under 18’s in Groups:

  • Unaccompanied under 18’s are not allowed to stay in shared rooms, unless they are part of a group that has booked out the entire shared room.
  • The group leader must provide the required documentation to Haka House.

Consequences of Non-Adherence:

  • Failure to comply with these policies will result in automatic cancellation of the booking with no refund. Guests violating these rules will not be permitted to check into the Hostel.
  • Please ensure that you review and comply with these age-related policies to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay at Haka House.
Check-in is any time from 2 pm and check-out is at 10 am.
We can also arrange for an after-hours check in upon request before arrival.

Our reception is open 7 days a week from 8 am – 6 pm.

If you are arriving in after reception hours (after 6 pm), you will need to advise us of late arrival plans prior to the date of arrival.  In these instances, directions on how to obtain the room key will be informed by the Haka House Team.

Entrance into the Haka House Property will be treated as an acceptance of our terms and conditions.

Only paid bookings will receive an email from us with after-hours check-in instructions.

Same-day luggage storage is free. Just ask our friendly Front Office team.

Unfortunately, our hostel does not have suitable access.

You will find Hair Dryers in all our bathrooms throughout the property.
You will also find the added bonus of Body Wash!

Only our private rooms come with towels. You can hire a towel from reception for a small charge. 

Sorry, you can’t bring pets into our hostel.  As we are located within conservation land, being part of a National Reserve there are strict rules around permitting pets.

Those requiring assistance dogs, such as guide dogs, hearing dogs, and dogs for those who are disabled – Please check the Department of Conservation for permit application process.

You are welcome to drink alcohol that you have purchased in the common areas only. Please do not take alcohol into the bedrooms and we ask you to be mindful of our other guests – we enjoy a drink or two but we are not a party hostel!

Yes, we supply all your bed sheets.

Everyone is welcome in the social areas only.  All non-guest visitors must be met by a named guest and signed in at reception before accessing the building. The named guest is responsible for the visitor while onsite and is liable for any damages and room fees that the visitor incurs.

We have a communal kitchen, fully euipped with all you need to create your feasts.  Our kitchen also features food storage options exclusively for Haka House guests.

The self-serve laundry room is located on the ground floor and is open 24-hours. We have washing machines and dryers available, which cost $4 each. The coins accepted are $1 and $2. If you find that you need change or need to purchase detergent, just swing by the Reception and our friendly team can assist.

Yes, we do! All rates include weekly housekeeping, which covers surfaces, sweeping, mopping, removing garbage and changing your bedding if you need a fresh set.

We operate a strict no-smoking policy throughout all our facilities – this includes e-cigarettes and vaping. All of our rooms and public areas are designated as non-smoking.

Yes we do, our parking area is a first in first served basis.

It is highly advisable to carry chains at all time during winter.
